There are three important requirements for your participation in this year’s parade:
1. You or a member of your crew must attend the captains meeting. The meeting will be held at Marker 1 marina (where the parade starts) at 4PM on the day of the parade, Saturday Dec. 6. This is where and when you get the parade number to display on your boat for judging.
2. You must have a working VHF radio capable of operating on channels 16, 68 and 72.
The radio will be used to get the parade lined up and started, tell you when to enter the Dunedin marina for judging as well as to convey any other pertinent marine information while the parade is in route.
3. A good GPS, with the parade route already entered, would be very good. It will be dark, with the moon in its first quarter and setting on the western horizon at 22:56. The tide will be going down all evening with a low of 0.8 feet at 9:39 pm. It may be breezy which can cause you to drift out of the channel.
They will be starting the pre-parade partying at Marker One between 1 and 2 PM, so call the marina and get a slip for Friday night so you will be ready to start partying first thing Saturday. The dock master asked that everyone call on VHF channel on arrival, before reaching the dock to get instruction as to where to dock your boat.
