Mardi Gras Float Work Session #5

  • 02/03/2024
  • 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • 958 Douglas Ave. in Dunedin.

Help build this year’s Mardi Gras float!

Our theme this year is "The Wizard of Odd."

We’ll put our own twist on this classic story.

The float will include an amazing Emerald Castle and the Wizard! Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion will be there along with Flying Monkeys and Glenda, the Good Witch!

You don't need to sign up, just show up.

Work Session #5

The work plan includes:

  • Finishing the construction of the yellow brick road.
  • Finishing attaching the leafy trellis to the yellow road and other areas.
  • Making the railing "gates" on both front sides of the trailer and attaching a railing to the back of the float.
  • Painting "bricks" on the yellow brick road and painting any exposed wood.
  • Attaching string lights on the greenery, yellow brick road and the castle towers.
  • Attaching poppies to the greenery with zip ties.
  • Installing/attaching Dorothy's house on the front of the float.
  • Installing bamboo poles for the flying monkeys and zip tying the "ugly tree" to the back railing.
  • Finishing the wooden holders for the hollyhocks and lollipops.
  • Installing the bead-holder metal pegs on the trailer railings.
