    Help build this year’s Mardi Gras float!


    Our theme this year is

    "Celebrating the Dunedin Boat Club's Historic Clubhouse"

     

    The Clubhouse will be the centerpiece of this year's float so the entire community can celebrate this important element of Dunedin's sailing and boating history.


    This is the next to last work session before the parade. You don't need to sign up, just show up.


    Work Session #6

    The work plan details:

    • Finish painting additional coroplast roof segments
    • Finish installing the roof segments
    • Paint and trim or boards that need painting
    • Mark and drill holes for the 2 strings of white LED lights around door and window trim
    • Install and tape the white LED lights in the inside walls (through holes)
    • Install the market lights where walls meet roof

    What to bring:

    • Staple guns and 5/8" staples
    • Paint brushes and rollers with pans
    • Battery-powered hand tools, jigsaws and star bits for screws, Phillips head screw drivers
    • Duct tape 
    • Saw horses
    • Ladders
    • Don't forget drinks, snacks, sunscreen, work gloves, and a desire to have fun with other DBC members.

      • Location:  The float is located in the open lot behind the former "Institute for Creative Arts," on Douglas Ave., just south of Skinner Blvd. and diagonally across from the Dunedin Woodwright Brewery.
      • Parking:  Parking in the lot is very limited. It is better to park in front of the building or in the City parking garage, located just to the south. Feel free to drop off any tools and supplies before parking elsewhere.

      Come join us for DBC's annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser!

      This is our annual fundraiser to help offset the cost of our Mardi Gras parade float. Let's make this our best spaghetti dinner event ever!

        • NOTE:  Per DBC guidelines, each adult member can invite a maximum of 2 guests.


      DONATION FEE:  

        • Members: $15.00 per person. Each member in a Family Membership should register separately.
        • Guests: $15.00 per guest (limit 2 guests per adult member).
        • All proceeds go toward our Mardi Gras parade float.


      WHAT'S INCLUDED:  

        • All-you-can-eat spaghetti pasta, salad, and garlic toast. 
          • NOTE:  This year we are offering a choice of Tomato Sauce with meatballs or Vegan Sauce.


      WHAT TO BRING:  

      • Please bring a dessert to share!

        Sign up to walk with our wonderful float!


        Parade begins at 7:00 PM on March 4Come early to the VFW for a drink and some hamburgers. You can check out everyone's costume and the view the other floats. 


        Walking in the parade with our float is a DBC "Member Only" event. 

        Guest registrations are not permitted for this event.


        MEMBER REGISTRATION FOR PARADE WALKERS:

        • Members are invited to register to walk in the parade alongside our float.

        • For members walking in the parade, there is a $10 fee to help cover the cost of the beads. You will also need to review and electronically sign the waiver form located on the registration page.

        REGISTRATION: 

        • Each member needs to register separately in order to sign the required waiver. Click on the blue "Register" button on this page. Only members who plan to walk in the parade need to register.

          IMPORTANT NOTES:  

            • Each registrant will receive a wristband on the day of the event.  
            • Wristbands will be available at the back of our float prior to the start of the parade.
            • Our float number location is TBD and will be updated closer to the event.
            • Please arrive at the DBC float at least 30 minutes before the start of the parade to get your wristband. 
            • Your wristband is your "ticket" to walk with our float and receive beads.

                  Come out and enjoy an evening on the beach with Dunedin Boat Club Members. Dinner, music, and a sunset on the beach makes this event one of my personal favorites!

                  You have many fun ways to get to the event.  You can take the ferry from the Dunedin Marina or you can hop on your boat and cruise over to the Clearwater Beach City Docks. You can even drive your car over. 

                  The Clearwater Ferry can be booked and there will be more info regarding the Dunedin Boat Club using the ferry released soon so stay tuned.

                  There are free day docks at the Clearwater Beach City Docks near the Clearwater Beach Library and good anchorage just off the day docks in the Mandalay Channel. There are some boat size limits at the day docks so ask around to get those details.

                  Please register online by July 28th. This is very important as we must tell the Palm Pavilion staff how many people will be in our group.  You don’t want to end up sitting at the kiddie table so go ahead and register asap! 

                  Cost: You pay for your drinks and dinner.

                  This is a DBC Members only event and we are working with the Clearwater Ferry to take Members from the Dunedin Marina to the Palm Pavilion and back to Dunedin.

                  We are looking forward to having a ton of fun with our DBC shipmates!

                  Commodore Laundry Race

                   
                    

                  LAST CHANCE to Register. Registration will close at midnight, Wednesday August 13th.

                  • NOTE:  At least 4 boats for each course are needed to signup in order to go through the effort of running the race. If there are not enough registrants by Wednesday, June 14th the event will be canceled.

                  This year's event will include both sailboats and paddlers!!

                  • Sailboat Course will be North of the Clubhouse
                  • Paddler Course will be South of the Clubhouse

                  SAFETY FIRST AND FUN WILL FOLLOW!!!

                    • Get your water squirting devices and join the raucous crowd searching for the Captain's Laundry!
                    • OPTIONAL:  Decorate your boat, dress like a pirate or feel free to simply put on your regular gear and come out and enjoy the tomfoolery of the day!
                    • 30 minutes prior to the race there will be water fights until all are throughly soaked.
                    • Once the race begins, one needs to keep an eye out for the Captain's Laundry.
                    • There will be 7 items of his laundry on floats along the course.
                    • The Winners:  Whoever completes their course and has the most laundry will be deemed the winner of that course!
                    • NO WATER BALLOONS OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED!!!

                  • Attendees:  DBC Members and Invited Guests (limited to 2 guests per adult member)

                  • Participant Boat Types:  
                    • Sailboats
                    • Paddlers - Kayaks, Standup Paddleboards, or any vessel meant to be paddled

                    • Bring your squirt guns, water cannons etc. and prepare for battle. Keep your opponents from gathering the Captain's laundry which is scattered about the course.

                  Well, I am glad you asked….A summer white party is an elegant event that can be a fun way to celebrate the end of summer.  And YOU are cordially invited to the DBC first SUMMER WHITE PARTY! Show up and make history!

                    • Single Memberships:  Single members are permitted to bring a "plus one" guest.  The guest fee is $15.00.
