Save the dates: May 8, 2024 through May 16, 2024! The DBC Cruising Committee is hosting an overnight cruise to beautiful King's Bay in Crystal River.
King's Bay offers some of the most beautiful kayaking around numerous springs on the west coast of Florida. It is populated year-round with manatees and other wildlife.
If you have questions, please email or text Cruising Chair Gary Shellenberger. Gary's cell number and email address can be found in our online directory.
Crystal River Paddle, May 10-14
Crystal River offers a wonderful paddling experience, where you can encounter manatees in their natural habitat. You can explore the Kings Bay area for two days at a relaxed pace, enjoying the scenic views and wildlife. This paddling trip is part of the cruising group's boating adventure to Crystal River. We have reserved four days for this activity, so that both weekend and weekday paddlers can join us. However, be aware that the weekends are very crowded. You can choose to paddle for one or more days, depending on your availability and preference.
Four providers are contracted with the city to launch at Kings Bay park:
Please register for the event by clicking on the Blue Register Button so that we have an approximate headcount.
Please join the Group Me DBC Paddling Group discussions, where we will share more details about the event. I would like to know which days you are attending, and whether you are staying overnight.
We will also arrange a group dinner/late lunch at some Crystal River restaurants on a few nights.
Some people have indicated that they want to stay overnight and are curious if others do too. If not already signed up; directions for Group Me can be found here. Dunedin Boat Club - Paddling Group - Group Me Communication.
For those who want to bring power boats: Pete's Pier with slips and fuel is nearby, and there is a launch ramp at the Kings Bay Park.

Commodore's Caladesi Thanksgiving Weekend Cruise
The Commodore's Caladesi Thanksgiving Weekend Cruise returns to the club calendar again this year! This "cruise" is accessible by everyone whether you have a boat or not.
Please register for the event by clicking on the Blue Register Button so that we have an approximate headcount. NOTE: Registration is limited to the first 40 registrants. Members may Join the Wait List after the registration limit is reached for spots that may become available should anyone cancel their reservation.
This event is being held earlier in the afternoon than in previous years to allow those folks who need to use the ferry to get to the Island, enjoy the event, and to have sufficient time to catch the last ferry back to Honeymoon. This also allows the day cruisers to have sufficient time to return to their home port safely in day light.
We will be at one of the 2 Pavilions across from docks. Look for the DBC burgee.
Starting around 1:30pm, we will gather and light the grill. Food servings should start some time around 2:00pm.
The “bonfire” will get started at dark for the folks staying over night.
Don’t forget to enjoy some beach time while on the Island.
The Commodore will be cooking and serving hamburgers, hot dogs, possibly sausages, chips, cookies, and maybe another side, no turkey or ham.
Sodas and water will be available.
Be advised that alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the Island.
