  Evenings on the water are the best!

  We’ll launch from the boat club at 7:15 PM, paddle north and in the area looking for bioluminescence.  It is always beautiful to be on the water at sunset.  Sunset is at 8:18.  Bring your lights as we'll do some paddling after dark then come back in the 9-9:30 timeframe.  It will be dark, and tracking people and kayaks will be impossible, so before we cast off, we will make sure everyone has a buddy kayak to stay near and stay safe after dark.  

  Normally, we would do this paddle in Safety Harbor, but their marina and launch area is closed for repairs.

  Maine, 1789: When the Kennebec River freezes, entombing a man in the ice, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death. As a midwife and healer, she is privy to much of what goes on behind closed doors in Hallowell. Her diary is a record of every birth and death, crime and debacle that unfolds in the close-knit community.   For this month's meeting we gather together to share fellowship and the joy of the season. There is no book selected.

  
  

  Our host is Chris Benson.

  For our holiday gift exchange we each bring a small gift, or perhaps a re-gift, a thrift store treasure or something funny. (It's not an exchange of generic items worth a certain amount.)

  Place the gift in a brown paper grocery bag and staple or tape it shut so it's surprise to whomever chooses it. We each take a number and pick a bag in turn or take someone else's gift if we like it better! It's always great fun!

  You are invited to bring an appetizer or holiday treat and/or a bottle of wine to share.

  • To allow more members to attend and avoid the oversubscription of last year's event, we have instituted the following guest policy for this event:
  • • Family Memberships:  Family members are not permitted to bring guests.  Each member of a Family Membership should register separately.
    • Single Memberships:  Single members are permitted to bring a "plus one" guest.  The guest fee is $15.00.
